Social Media Representative Team

Access

When I started at Fanshawe, I met with all of the existing social media representatives and the common idea that was shared amongst them about what would help them to successfully manage channels was access to brand materials.

I successfully championed for the SMRs to be added to brand resources including the Branding Hub and Adobe Express. It was better to provide them with the appropriate tools and resources and train them how to use them than not to.

Architecture

Built the Social Media Toolkit - first in Google Drive, which moved into OneDrive and Microsoft teams when Fanshawe became a Microsoft 365 Campus.

This toolkit including:
• The Social Media Representative Starters Kit with Strategy Documents, Policy documents, writing and style guide documents.
• Training and Professional development resources
• Active Content - college wide messaging teams could use to supplement their strategies
• Platform Guides - for anyone unfamiliar with any platform
• Resources and Assets - Logos (the six versions they needed), Fonts, patterns, photos etc.

Training

Every new SMR is provided with 2 hours of onboarding training which introduced them to policy, strategy, brand, writing style and introduction to their channels.

Architecture

Implemented Microsoft Planner as an editorial tool for social media strategy.

This allowed teams to create detailed editorial calendars, which allowed them to be more strategic with the content they were developing, making room for spontaneous content that arises.

I have lead Fanshawe's Social Media Representative team as it grew from 20 members to more than 120.

The team consisted of students, support staff and faculty members with a wide range of skills and understanding of social media. I built tools that helped bridge the gap for the members of our team.
